A little context

Ripe, or shou, pu-erh uses a wet-piling process to develop its dark character. It is distinct from raw, or sheng, pu-erh; do not treat the two as interchangeable.

You might enjoy it if…

You are curious about earth, wood, dark sweetness and want a fuller cup. Taste varies by maker and batch.

You might prefer another tea if…

You dislike earthy aromas. Reject tea with visible mold or an unexplained unpleasant odor.
