Where to buy Chinese tea: compare the buying channels

Local shops, specialist sellers and marketplaces ask for different checks.

Anji Bai Cha

A local shop: ask to sample

A local shop may offer tasting and avoid international shipping. Ask for ingredients, net weight, tea style and instructions. A tasting does not verify origin; keep the label for comparison.

A specialist online seller: read the product page

Look for samples, production details, flavor additions and destination shipping terms. For pu-erh, ask about raw or ripe and storage. Our ordinary seller links are not batch tests or delivery guarantees.

A marketplace: identify the seller

Identify the seller, fulfillment and return terms. Reviews may concern another product variation. Stars, badges and famous names cannot authenticate the batch you will receive.

Use four buying checks instead of a worst-tea list

Check the ingredients, origin, storage history and batch details. Compare small samples before paying extra for a famous place or an older tea.
