Milk oolong: natural aroma or added flavor?

What a Jin Xuan label can tell you—and what it cannot.

Jin Xuan

Aroma is not an ingredient list

Milk oolong can describe naturally creamy impressions or added flavoring. Jin Xuan is a cultivar name. It cannot prove by itself that a particular bag is unflavored.

Ask three questions

What is the cultivar? What ingredients are listed? Has anything been added for flavor? Clear answers are more useful than authentic or premium claims. A naturally creamy aroma need not smell like dessert topping.

Taste cannot certify a process

Dry aroma, a cold cup or a fading aroma may help you notice differences, but none is a reliable home test for added flavoring. Do not accuse a seller based on one trick. Use written ingredients and product information.

Preference is personal

An honestly labeled flavored tea can be enjoyable. The problem is misleading labeling, not that everyone must prefer an unflavored cup. If you want traditional unflavored tea, say so when buying a sample.
